Alright, thought I’d share this one because it’s definitely not my finest work 😅

Tried replacing the HDMI port on a Series S and yeah… it didn’t exactly go to plan.

Pads took a bit of a beating, alignment wasn’t great, and I rushed it more than I should have.
Classic case of “just get it done” instead of slowing down.

(Big lesson here for me — patience > speed, especially with these ports)

I’m debating whether to:

  • Attempt a proper clean-up and reflow
  • Go down the trace repair route
  • Or just call this one experience and move on

What would you lot do in this situation?

Looking at it now, I’m thinking this might actually be salvageable with a proper trace repair.

I’ve been looking at one of the HDMI trace repair kits from Uber Repairs, seems like it lines everything up a lot cleaner than trying to bodge wires in.

Never used one before, but this might be the job to try it on.

If it works, great—if not, it’s already a learning board at this point anyway 😅

Has anyone here used one on a Series S before? Worth it or better off running jumpers?
